A Not-To-Do List: 8 Ways to Worsen Your Foot Blister

All shoes are used for the feet, but not all of them are compatible with them. Everyone surely has experienced that little bump on the feet which is extremely painful whenever it gets into contact with anything. It is reddish, and it looks like a stationary bubble you can pick and pop. It appears when you wear the wrong shoes — unfitting, with difficult styles and incompatible manufacturing material. It’s called a blister! Oops, I guess that sounded a bit excited. Unfortunately, blisters aren’t exciting at all!

Whenever you get a foot blister, you know there’s no turning back. It’s there, and aside from wishing it’s gone already, all you can do is to do what you have to do and to not do what you’re not supposed to do.

You have to tendency to be hard-headed and lazy (we all do!) so what I have here for you is not a to-do-list to heal your blister but a not-to-do-list. It’s a set of tips for you to manage making your blister worse. It’s really weird to hear a set of tips for the worsening of something, right? But here, I give these to you for you to know that these 8 are the things which you must not do if you want that blister to go away! In fact, worsening your foot blisters is much more effortless than getting rid of them.

NOT-A-TIP # 1: Suffocate it

Air is both important and not needed depending on the case and site of your blister. If you want to worsen your blister, the most basic thing that you could do is to put a really tight bandage on it. Don’t allow air to flow by choking the blister with a band aid, and from there, expect the healing process to go slowly.

NOT-A-TIP # 2: Expose it A LOT

Like mentioned earlier, air is both important and needed by the blister. In what way? If your foot blister is on an area that is not easily touched, rubbed or bumped onto, then exposing it without a bandage is alright. For those prone to getting contact with the shoes and other stuff, exposing it A LOT is dangerous because many bacteria can be acquired through the shoes themselves, through the ground and and through the air. It is important to cover the blister too.

NOT-A-TIP # 3: Feet down!

If you elevate your feet with blisters as soon as you get home, swelling and pain will be relieved. Keeping the feet low will hold back the insurance of proper fluid in your body. Fresh blood will also be interrupted or even not make it to the area if you lower your feet instead of raising them.

NOT-A-TIP # 4: Apply nothing

There are many products which you can apply to your blister for its healing and quick recovery. Creams and antibacterial ointments are helpful. Remember, cleaning the area around the blister is very important so don’t sanitize it if you don’t want it to get healed! Creams made to disinfect the blister also help prevent infection caused by bacteria acquired from shoes, the ground and the environment in general. Leave your blister unmoisturized, and see it get worse and more painful too.

NOT-A-TIP # 5: Choose hard and rough shoe surface

You can’t just detach your blister, so what needs to adjust is your feet. Before buying a pair of shoes, fit test it first. There are shoes which easily make your feet blistered, but sometimes, it’s just your feet’s issue. Make sure you’ll be safe, comfortable and convenient with your shoes. To inflame the blister and to make the healing process slow, choose hard and rough soles.

NOT-A-TIP # 6: Harden the area

Soaking the blistered foot in water can clean the area and also restrict infections to occur. If you want to complicate the popping of the blister with a sterilized needle, make efforts to harden the affected portion. Softening it boosts rapid healing. Hardening it makes the healing harder to happen.

NOT-A-TIP # 7: Disturb the blister

If the blister is going to pop, it’s going to pop, so leave it there all alone as much as possible. If you want it to get displeased, touch or play with it whenever you’re bored. Disturb it in a way that it gets irritated. Your hands aren’t always clean, and if you touch the blister, you will never know, your blister is already infected and more swollen than before.

NOT-A-TIP # 8: Pop it

Some recommend that blisters must be popped, but many also don’t. Popping a blister somehow gives a feeling of satisfaction that you have finally gotten rid of that little bumpy matter on your foot. The hands get itchy wanting to end the life of that blister. Little do you (I, we!!!) know that popping it is not the best thing to do; it may not be good in many situations too. Popping a blister actually heightens the chances of it getting infected. The consequences are still on you! After popping it, you have to deal with the pain of it being freshly opened and becoming more sore and also, you have to be ready for the inconvenience of treating it as often as needed.

There you go! 8 things I suggest you to do ONLY IF you want those feet blisters to get worse and more painful! I don’t know who likes that… but again, this guide is not to encourage you to take these ways but to discourage you instead. Blisters are sometimes cute, but they’re not fun! Hopefully, you really will not do all these 8 things written in this not-to-do list! Walk confidently, wear shoes happily and stand on your feet blister-free!
